• Congratulations: Khan Academy
Congratulations to one of our featured content sponsors, Khan Academy, which was recently featured on National Public Radio in the U.S. on “All Things Considered.” You may read or listen to the story here.Khan Academy is a free online tutoring service, focusing on math. It offers 1000+ videos on YouTube covering everything from basic arithmetic to algebra to differential equations, physics, chemistry, biology and finance.
The videos are recorded by the founder, Salman Khan, who makes the videos himself. All of his videos are clear and easy to understand, and the Khan Academy site offers unlimited testing questions. If you sign up for their free service on their web site you can also have it track your progress.
So, is Khan Academy helpful? We asked a recent graduate of Royal Scholars Academy, who used Khan Academy in her studies, if she would recommend it to other students, and this was her reply:
"When I was accepted to college, I needed to take a placement exam. I was nervous, especially about the math portion, since I generally enjoy English and humanities studies more than math. I had gone through various math books in recent years, but didn’t feel very confident with how I was doing. I found that I could focus better on Khan Academy videos, and went through many of them, even beyond what I had studied before.
"I took my placement exam, and when it was graded, found that I had scored top marks in all subjects — including math — which meant that I was already at the second year of college, academically. I am so glad that I trusted Khan Academy!
"So far I have been enjoying my collegiate studies, even though I seem to be ahead of many of my classmates. Thank you, Royal Scholars Academy!"
Quite a recommendation! Best wishes to our recent graduate and good luck to everyone in their mathematics studies. Perhaps Khan Academy would be a help to you, too!
